Safety FAQs

Is Fieldlink compliant with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA)?+

Fieldlink is a tool that helps a PCBU meet their HSWA duties — it doesn't certify you. We give you the workflows WorkSafe NZ expects: hazard identification, reasonably practicable controls, worker engagement (toolbox talks + sign-on), incident notification, and an audit trail you can show ConstructSafe or a WorkSafe inspector.

What's the difference between an SSSP and a hazard register?+

An SSSP is project-level — one document per site, signed by the team running that site. A hazard register is ongoing — every hazard you've ever identified across the business, with the controls you've put in place. Fieldlink has both, and they share data: a new hazard on a site automatically updates the master register.

How do toolbox talks work?+

The site supervisor picks a topic from the library (or writes their own), the crew sign on with one tap on a phone, and a PDF is filed to the job. We include a built-in NZ-specific library: working at heights, hot work, traffic management, excavation, manual handling, COVID controls, etc.

What about notifiable events?+

Fieldlink prompts you through the WorkSafe NZ notifiable event criteria (death, serious harm, dangerous occurrence). The form generates the info you need to phone or notify WorkSafe and saves a permanent record. You still need to make the call — we don't notify WorkSafe for you.

Will my ConstructSafe audit be easier?+

Yes. The most painful part of ConstructSafe is producing evidence: SSSPs, toolbox sign-ons, pre-starts, hazard register, incident log, training records. Fieldlink keeps all of it in one place with date/time stamps and worker signatures.
